Treat spills quickly and with ease !
A truly fast response with no drips.

There are many times in a busy day when the use of a mop and bucket is just not possible and you need to respond quickly to a spill incident. Spill injuries account for 50% of all public reported injuries (HSE UK Figures) and over 30% of all major injuries per year are slip related and cost employers over £300 million in lost production and other costs. Spill-Mop provides a fast and simple spill response to troublesome spills on slippery surfaces, without the need for additional equipment like a bucket and wringer. Whilst the U shape shown is one of the best formats to use, the microloop fabric used on every Spill-Mop product locks into a range of "hook and loop" fastening systems.

Spill-Mop provides a fast spill clean up, 3 pints (1.75 litres) in less than a minute, with no need for buckets or wringers. It can be used on anything from wine to urine which is locked away with no drips for ease of disposal. Trials have shown that Spill-Mop can be used up to three times on typical spills before being thrown away for hygienic reasons. If hygiene is not a consideration then after a suitable drying period the product can be used as many as six times. Spills as large as 6 litres (10.5 pints) can be tackled and all water based liquids (wine, milk, cola, coffee, mild acids and alkalis etc) will be turned to a non-drip gel. The gelling agent effectively locks in the smells of vapours of a spilt liquid also thus reducing personal exposure levels.

Method of Use

How to activate Spill-mop

  • Put Mop in centre of spill for 10 seconds to start the wicking process.
  • Work Slowly.
  • Work from edge of spill into the centre..
  • Take up the bulk of liquid at first.
  • Wait a few seconds to allow the core to dry the outer fabric.
  • Polish floor with a Spill-Pad or Disposable Wipe for a complete dry.

Small Spills
U Shape

Spill-Mop is not used like a conventional mop, it does not need a bucket or a wringer. It won't drip and can be used in two formats depending on the size of spill. When dealing with a spill, work from the outside of the spill into the centre. This reduces the spread of the liquid and speeds up the clean up time.

Always use slow deliberate strokes working from the outside to in rather than quick sweeps. This will allow the Spill-Mop to draw the liquid off the floor and into the absorbent head.

On small spills up to 3 pints (1.75 litres) use the mop in the U shape, directing the liquid into the mouth of the U.

If the spill includes broken glass by using the Spill-Mop working from the outside of the spill edge inwards you will be able to collect the spilled liquid quickly and leave a pile of glass in the centre, which can swept up with a brush and pan.

For Large Spills
2 Blade, for 5 to 6 Litre Spills

  • Work from edge to the centre.
  • Slow action.
  • Front Blade takes the bulk of the spill.
  • Back Blade dries the floor.
  • Why 2 rather than one big one?

6 Litre Spill & Dry in 1 Minute

  • Front blade takes bulk.
  • Back blade dries.
  • Faster Liquid take up and floor dry.

2 Blade in reverse action
  • Other sides of the mops take up the fluid.

How Spill-Mop works

  • Spill-Mop has two very important components.
    • A very fast wicking outer fabric layer to fire the liquid into the absorbent core.
    • A homogeneous core of a colloidal and cellulosic absorbent mix.

MARKET SECTOR APPLICATIONS

MARKET SECTOR DESCRIPTION OF TYPICAL PROBLEMS ADVANTAGES OF THE USE OF SPILL MOP
HEALTH CARE
Laboratory, Clinic, Wards, Canteen etc.
Spillages of Urine or Blood; Possible viral contaminants mean the use of sterilising chlorinated bleaches or similar liquids which in large quantities have their own health and safety issues. Safe storage of used conventional mops to reduce the possibility of cross contamination can also be a problem. Possibility of glass shards embedding in a conventional mop head can result in problems in future uses. Not only is Spill-Mop fast and convenient, it will also solve any possible storage problems of contaminated mops and buckets of water. No splashes, no drips and the disposable nature of the product makes Spill-Mop a more convenient method of spill response. Whilst the area will still need sterilisation, the amount of bleach or similar liquid used will be greatly reduced as the bulk of the spill will be removed with the Spill-Mop.
HOSPITAL
Laboratory, Waiting Rooms, Treatment Rooms, Mortuary, Chemical Stores, Canteen, Wards etc.
Spillages of Glutaraldehyde or similar chemicals with Maximum Exposure Limits. (Glutaraldehyde M.E.L 0.05ppm). Possibility of glass shards embedding in a conventional mop head can result in problems in future uses. As many chemicals now have maximum exposure limits set for them under Health & Safety legislation, speed of clean up and ease of disposal are an ideal application for the use of Spill-Mop. Spill-Mop fast absorbs and gels fluids such as gluteraldehyde into a low leaching disposable waste.
FOOD RETAIL & RESTAURANTS Spill accidents from wine, milk, orange juice, vinegar etc. Liquids run under fixtures, floor becomes slippery and dangerous, possible glass contamination of cleaning mop, disposal of contaminated water and storage of the wet mop. Milk contamination is particular health and safety issue. The bulk of the fluid spill can be quickly removed with little or no drips and the polluted Spill-Mop thrown away to reduce the risk of future contamination. Spill-Mop and its absorbent core are food safe and non toxic.
EDUCATION
Schools etc.
Spillages of milk, orange juice in canteens or cleanup of body fluids. Spillages on polished floors with high volumes of traffic can result in accidents therefore quick response is needed. Speed of response again is reason for using Spill-Mop and the ability to quickly absorb the bulk of the spill to reduce the possibility of slipping. Also, possibility of glass shards embedding in a conventional mop head can result in problems in future uses.
VETERINARY Urine accidents in waiting room, spill accidents from chemicals in the laboratory or clinic. Possibility of glass shards embedding in a conventional mop head can result in problems in future uses. Busy waiting rooms and clinics need a quick spill response to accidents. Spill-Mop absorbs the bulk of liquid spills and is easily disposed of in clinical waste.
EXHIBITION HALLS Polished floors, high volumes of traffic, large distances to be covered to get to the incident. Speed of response again is the reason for using Spill-Mop and the ability to quickly absorb the bulk of the spill to reduce the possibility of slipping.
AIRPORTS Spills in high traffic areas with polished or tiled floors need a fast spill response and short drying time to reduce slip risk and possible health hazards from unknown substances. The lack of equipment required means your spill response is much quicker and the bulk of the liquid can be quickly removed with the minimum of customer inconvenience. Used mops can be quickly disposed of and future spills dealt with in the same way.
TRANSPORT
Air, Sea, Land
Spills on board can cause many problems from slip hazards to quick spread of the spilled liquid. Spill-Mop can be used with a hand held head for onboard galley applications in Aircraft or in large tiled public areas in Trains and Ferries. Speed of response again is the reason for using Spill-Mop and the ability to quickly absorb the bulk of the spill to reduce the possibility of the liquid flowing under fixtures and fittings due to movement of the craft.
CLEAN ROOMS Polished floors, chemical spillages, dust contamination. Cross contamination from previous incidents. The low linting nature of the Spill-Mop Microloop fabric ensures a fast clean with a simple disposable waste.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE Painted or tiled floors in vehicle maintenance centres have created a safety slip hazard. Many companies no longer wish to use the traditional clay granule because of the abrasive nature of the dust in hydraulic systems. Spill-Mop provides a quick instant response to quickly contain a spill to prevent tracking and further contamination. Use on coolant, diesel, petrol, or brake fluid (note: will not gel hydrocarbons).
HAIRDRESSING Spills of bleach or dyes. Busy salons need to be able to respond quickly to a spillage of a large amount of bleach or dyes. Spill-Mop quickly absorbs the liquid and provides a professional spill response to a health and safety hazard.
KITCHENS - CANTEEN Spill accidents from wine, milk, orange juice, vinegar etc. Liquids run under fixtures, floor becomes slippery and dangerous. Possible glass contamination of cleaning mop, disposal of contaminated water and storage of the wet mop. Milk contamination is a particular health and safety issue. The bulk of the fluid spill can be quickly removed with little or no drips and the polluted Spill-Mop thrown away to reduce the risk of future contamination. Spill-Mop and its absorbent core are food safe and non toxic.
REFRIGERANT / COOLANT SPILLS
Cool Aisles, Refrigerators, Freezers, Cold Store etc.
Defrosting of refrigerators can cause a number of spill problems. Refrigerant can leak onto the floor or, indeed, the ice itself can be a problem as it defrosts, pooling in the bottom of the freezer or ice box tray. Not only will Spill-Mop quickly absorb floor spillages, it can also be used like an absorbent sock, which when placed under the freezer will draw the liquid back into the mop head.
Spill-Mops placed in the bottom of a refrigerator prior to defrosting will also provide a superb means of defrosting a refrigerator with the least potential spill from the ice tray under the freezer box. Remove the ice box tray and allow the water to drip onto the refrigerator or freezer floor where up to 5 litres of water will be absorbed by Spill-Mop over the defrost period.
SPORTS / LEISURE Spillages of swimming pool chemicals, or accidents in the public areas such as the canteen need a quick response. Speed of response again is the reason for using Spill-Mop and the ability to quickly absorb the bulk of the spill to reduce the possibility of slipping. Spill-mop and its absorbent core are food safe and non toxic.
